TV Time

As I'm always on the look out for more TV to watch, I want to know your favorite shows. These can be past shows, current shows, quality shows, guilty pleasure shows, or anything that is awesome.

What is your favorite TV show and why should I watch it?

Degrassi Junior High its awesome. A canadian junior high school with "normal/regular" kids. There's also Degrassi Street and Degrassi High but Degrassi Junior High is the best one. I have 6 video tapes of it if you want. Hurry we are leaving tomorrow.

Offhand, I'd mention:
1-The Prisoner. Surreal 60's spy drama. Kinda like James Bond on acid. lasted just short of 20 episodes, iirc. Similar to Twin Peaks in its quirkiness, but it also more of a social critique element to it. It's also very 60's.

2-Brass Eye. A sort of uber-Daily Show from the UK, lasted around 6 episodes, poked fun at television news in a pretty ballsy way. More deadpan than Jon Stewart. It had this great segment where they'd ask people to comment on issues, and then they'd show them this big spinny wheel (like a Twister wheel) with one half labelled "Right" and the other half labelled "Wrong" and would ask the guests to point the, erm, pointer at the appropriate spot.

FREAKS AND GEEKS. This is the best show ever.

Arrested Development.
I've recently gotten hooked on Veronica Mars as a guilty pleasure show.

Degrassi Junior High is out on DVD. Netflix has it. I watched 'em awhile back for kicks.

The Wire is a great cop drama on HBO. The first two seasons are on DVD. Basically complex, hourlong shows that examine the drug trade in Baltimore by focusing on both the dealers and the cops trying to bust them. A broad theme is that the good guys aren't always good and the bad guys aren't all bad.

greg- I liked that episode of The Wire we watched w/ Irene, so sometime I'll have to check out season one. And, Jessica has PROMISED me we'll get to watch Freaks and Geeks marathon style after her finals are over.

Matt- are those shows on Netflix? I'll have to check. I recently joined for all my TV on DVD needs...

I'm tottally down for some Degrassi, but I'm pretty sure the Squishy and family have left, so it will have to wait. We used to watch them in my jr. high health class, so there's a definate nostolgia factor.
