i object!

U2's With or Without You may be a goodie, but it is most definitely not an "oldie!" They played this on my oldies station yesterday. "Oldies" means songs from the 50's and 60's, not any song that is old!

i beg to differ. "oldies" are songs that are more than 20 years old, not just ones from the 50s and 60s. hence the name 'oldies.'

  2. no. "oldies" is a term like "contemporary art"; it has a separate meaning from it's common definition with used to describe a period of art.
